Double International accreditation awarded

December 2005

Stirk Lamont Associates today became one of only five private sector companies in Northern Ireland to hold both ISO 17799 and ISO 9001 accreditation and one of less than sixteen on the island of Ireland.

Owen Lamont, Chief Executive said: “Only 215 companies in the UK hold this level of accreditation so we're delighted. As a company which believes totally in Best Practice at all levels, Stirk Lamont Associates identified ISO 17799 as a good strategic fit with our culture and relevance to our customers. We have always taken Information Security extremely seriously. Achieving ISO 17799 certification now allows us to demonstrate to our customers just how seriously.

“When companies allow outsourcers or other third parties, whether local or international, to handle their customers' information, they are increasingly demanding evidence that this data is protected. This requirement is growing as details of high-profile security breaches regularly hit the headlines. One way to ensure best security practice is to use companies certified to the ISO 17799 International security standard, which is designed to help firms manage and minimise security risks.  Compliance with the standard clearly demonstrates that we takes risk management seriously.

“Companies providing IT security and consultancy services should ensure they have best practice accreditation to enable them to confidently and professionally advise others.

“ISO 9001, which is the Quality Management System (QMS) accreditation, demonstrates that we ensure quality in everything we do, by working to best practice processes and procedures. This accreditation applies to the processes that create and control the products and services we supply and prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met.”

With international tenders increasingly requiring ISO 17779 and ISO 9001 accreditation, achieving both will enable the company to continue to expand internationally.
